Product Story
The "Bonding Master" Built for High-End Circuit Boards
In multilayer PCB manufacturing, the bond between copper foil and substrate is the lifeline of the entire board's reliability. Delamination after reflow, blistering after thermal shock: these critical defects often stem from insufficient "intimacy" between the foil surface and the resin. CIVEN high-precision treated rolled foil was developed to solve exactly this problem.
Using a special process, we build on the rolled copper foil surface a layer of uniform, dense roughened structure, available in black or red. This is not simple physical roughening but a microstructure created by combined chemical and electrochemical treatment. Like countless tiny "anchors", it embeds deeply into epoxy or PI substrates, achieving an industry-leading peel strength of ≥ 1.2 N/mm.
More importantly, this roughened layer is extremely firm and does not shed powder during subsequent processing. Many engineers have had painful experiences with copper powder left between traces after etching causing shorts, or roughening particles contaminating chemical baths. CIVEN's treatment process makes the bond between the roughened layer and the base foil stronger than the cohesion of the roughened layer itself, eliminating powder shedding at the source.
As an inherent advantage of rolled foil, this material also offers excellent bend resistance: its fibrous crystal structure far outperforms electrodeposited foil in dynamic bending. Combined with a heat-resistant layer that does not discolor after baking at 200°C for 30 min, it performs reliably even under demanding process conditions.
