Your Most Trusted Line of Defense Against Corrosion
Among all copper alloys, cupronickel (Cu-Ni alloy) stands out for its unmatched corrosion resistance. Adding nickel not only changes the material's color, from copper red to silvery white, but fundamentally reshapes its chemical stability. In seawater, salt spray and mild acid or alkaline media, cupronickel foil shows oxidation and corrosion resistance far beyond ordinary copper alloys.
CIVEN standard cupronickel foil is available in three mainstream grades: B10 (about 10% nickel), B19 (about 19% nickel) and B30 (about 30% nickel). The higher the nickel content, the better the corrosion resistance and strength, but the higher the cost. Our technical team recommends the most cost-effective grade for each customer's application environment: the best grade is not the most expensive one, but the one that fits best.
Beyond corrosion resistance, cupronickel foil has another unique advantage: a very low temperature coefficient of resistance. Its resistance barely changes with temperature, making it an ideal material for precision resistors, shunts and measuring instruments. For electronic equipment that needs stable long-term output, this temperature insensitivity is an irreplaceable guarantee of quality.
Thickness ranges from 35 to 90 microns, with widths from 4 mm to 250 mm. The specification range is relatively focused, which reflects cupronickel foil's specialized role: it is mainly used in critical components that demand extremely high material reliability rather than in large-area general-purpose applications. Every micron of thickness is there to withstand harsh environments.
